H₂S (hydrogen sulfide) is a hazardous and toxic gas produced during biological processes, often through the formation of sulfur compounds in water. This process occurs when these sulfur compounds come in contact with low-oxygen conditions, H₂S can form and lead to health and environmental hazards.
This gas is known for its strong smell of rotten eggs and at low concentrations can already cause physical complaints, such as respiratory problems and eye irritations. When exposed to higher concentrations, the olfactory system can become paralyzed, rendering the gas even imperceptible.
Why H2S detection is important.
We receive requests for H₂S measurements from municipalities, often in response to odor problems or to prevent further degradation of the sewer system. By continuously detecting the gas with a gas detector and advanced sensors, municipalities can gain early insight into the presence of H₂S and take appropriate action. As soon as concentrations of H₂S reach dangerous levels, the detectors register it. One of the solutions to address the H₂S problem is our biological solution, the Green Odor Eater, which reduces H₂S emissions and can be safely used for various applications.
